The youtube video for these tracks were posted on December 25th, which is a good enough Christmas present for anyone. This is a free EP from Witness Records who run a weekly night in Edinburgh. Two standout tracks – some deeply percussive and hypnotic techno from DFRNT and Aaron Shallow, that wouldn’t have sounded out of place in a muddy rave in the mid 90s yet also veers nicely into Roska-style UK Funky territory. If they ever start televising table tennis, it should be the soundtrack. Then there’s Faith by Fault Lines, a gorgeous slice of deep house, in which minor-key melancholy gets swept up on the dancefloor and has its face rammed into some heavy-duty speakers, ultimately coming out smiling. If you know what I mean.
