Here’s a sweet little number from Essex / London outfit Dojo, who’ve been making waves on the UK live circuit in recent months, supporting Groundation amongst others, and playing a capacity show at Dingwalls. They market themselves as a reggae band, but for me this track has more in common with classic UK soul in the vein of Sade and Mica Paris. A real summertime blast, with some lovely horn parts and a seductive vocal lifting it into the clouds. It could possibly do with a bit more low-end underneath it, but that’s a minor quibble given all there is to admire on this record. Definitely a band to watch in the future.
