The press release for this one doesn’t hold back. This is “music that reduces the force of gravity and makes your feet feel light and springy. Music that makes you lift your head and gaze dreamily out the Panorama windows as glittering melodies trickle down your spine …” apparently. Most promos that come wrapped in such hyperbole are often first in line for the recycle bin, but fortunately this really is a very special 3-track EP, out on UFO Station Recordings. As the name suggests, this is atmospheric, spacey techno. The title track shudders and builds beautifully, recalling Basic Channel in its ghostly understatement. The real gem though is Siljan, named after a lake in the producers’ native Sweden, dusty dub techno that glides out of the speakers, echoey synth stabs hovering over the top of warm sub bass. Tokan rounds things off with a slightly edgier end-of-the night vibe but retaining the soft-focus melodies that govern the whole EP. Production with an infinitely delicate touch.
