parjo01 is producer Jon Parish. Always a disciple of the low-end, parjo01 turned to bass-heavy electronica when a long-standing love affair with reggae and dancehall dovetailed with the emerging sound of the London club scene in the late-noughties.

parjo01 played bass in bands for much of the previous decade, most notable in disco-punk- ska outfit ‘the Articles’ in which he made up the rhythm section with drummer Josh Williams, now of Native Tongue. The Articles released one single, “Monochrome Vigilante” on 7” vinyl in 2006 which received critical acclaim in the underground music press and they became well known on the London live circuit, holding their own bi-monthly club night, “Club Articles” at Islington’s Buffalo Bar.

IMG_0201aAfter the band split in 2007, parjo01 began writing, arranging and producing his own brand of psychedelic dub pop and, ditching the bass for lead vocals, played a series of gigs around the capital with his new 8-piece band Jon Parish & the Picts. His 2nd EP was produced with DanDNA of label-mates the Many Minds and it was at their studio, the Bunker, that the first sounds of parjo01 were produced.

parjo01’s debut single, ‘Set Face to Pleasure’ was released on Club Soda Records in 2011, alongside Many Minds’ ‘Vipers’. His follow up release for the label came in 2014, with the highly-acclaimed Shadows EP, backed with remixes by bass music luminaries Mella Dee and DFRNT.
